Emily Roanhorse

Emily Roanhorse was a student leader and alumni of Kirtland Central High School Business Professionals of America (KCHS BPA). She served as the 35th vice president of the KCHS BPA Chapter from September 2023 to May 2024 under President Justin Harrison. Following her term as Vice President, Roanhorse was appointed as the chapter’s Historian for the 2024–2025 academic year. Roanhorse was the Presidential Candidate Nominee in the 2024 Chapter General Election but was defeated by Kayla Badoni.

Early Involvement and Officer Roles

Roanhorse served as the 35th Vice President of the KCHS BPA chapter during the 2023–2024 academic year. Following her term, she was appointed as Historian for the 2024–2025 school year, contributing to the documentation and preservation of the chapter’s history and activities.

Competitive Achievements

Roanhorse competed in the Small Business Management Team event alongside teammate Justin Harrison. The duo secured 1st place at Regionals in 2023 and went on to place 3rd at the State level in 2024, earning recognition for their strategic planning and presentation skills.

Advocacy and Leadership Development

In addition to her officer roles, Roanhorse participated in a student advocacy event at the New Mexico State Legislature, where she joined fellow KCHS students in promoting funding for Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs). She described this experience as an important opportunity to support educational programs and learn about the state’s legislative process.

She also attended various workshops and seminars focused on team building, communication, and strategic planning, further enhancing her leadership skill set.

Chapter Election and Candidacy

In 2024, Roanhorse was a Presidential Candidate Nominee for the KCHS BPA Chapter General Election. Despite a competitive campaign, she was narrowly defeated by fellow nominee Kayla Badoni.
